EMPOWERMENT WELLNESS CHALLENGE
Together, we are stronger, wiser, and more courageous than we realize.
WE GOT THIS!
Welcome to the Empowerment Wellness Challenge! This challenge is for participants, staff, family, and friends of our Empowerment community. In today's world with COVID19, we are experiencing isolation from our loved ones, community, and support systems. We hope to create a supportive place for us to make changes to help support our health, wellness, and personal empowerment. Challenges are not necessarily fitness related, we are strengthening our minds and bodies by practicing self-care and engaging in community support.
Set goals, not limits: Our minds tend to get hung up on what we can't do, our current limitations -- how we can't run a mile without stopping, how we still can't touch our toes after all these years. Choose to see these obstacles as opportunities to set goals for yourself that match your abilities and desires.

Every Friday, a new set of challenges will be e-mailed to you. Please register at the bottom of this page.
WEEK 1 - January 1-7, 2021
Challenge #1: Create a music playlist or identify a song that helps in stressful or difficult times.
Think about why you picked these songs and what you love about them.

Challenge #2: Write down 3 affirmations in your journal or somewhere that you can see them every day.
(If you don’t have a journal, coordinate with your care manager to get one from Empowerment)
Examples: “I am beautiful” “I am worthy of love” “I can accomplish my goals”
**Affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment—fostering a belief that "a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything."

Challenge #3: Go for a walk and notice your surroundings.
Maybe you go to a new park, or take a different route than you are used to. Watch out for the little things; noises you hear, how the air feels on your skin, people who are smiling or singing to themselves, how the ground feels beneath your feet, and the smells in the air. Write down a few things to share with us.
You should consult your physician or other health care professional before starting this or any other fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs.
