RISE

RECOVERY IN A SECURE ENVIRONMENT - RISE

Picture
MISSION: Helping individuals incarcerated in the Denver Sheriff Department build a foundation of recovery through substance abuse treatment, trauma education, care management, and evidenced based peer support groups.
VISION: This program recognizes the struggles faced by our participants often leads to increased criminal activity and by addressing these issues our hope is to improve overall community safety.

The RISE program located in the Denver County Jail, is offered for both men and women. One of the goals of this program is to reduce recidivism among DUI and drug offenders. The RISE program is based around a peer facilitation model. There are groups held throughout the day led by the participants in combination with chosen curriculum, in addition to select curriculum facilitated by trained staff. The RISE program operates Monday through Saturday from 7am to 4pm. The RISE program itself is intensive and our participants are held to a higher standard of both conduct and growth potential.

The Door

Morning Noon & Night
Our lives at the Door

We get fed through the Door
We get meds through the Door
we get yelled at through the Door
On a good day, We get the remote through the Door

OMG, you should see the size of key for the Door

There's men on board!
You must be dressed to go to the Door

Don't you dare stand at the Door
Don't talk through the Door
Any chance they could clean the Door

When the day finally comes
We leave through the Door...

- written by the women in RISE
